The Uzbekistan unemployment rate in January-June 2022 was at 8.8%, a decrease by 0.9% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Employment, as of June 1, 2022, the number of manpower topped 19.4 million people, which increased by 0.8 percent or 153.7 thousand people compared to the same period of 2021.
The number of people employed in economic sectors made up 13.7 million people, which increased by 1.9% or 261.3 thousand people compared to the same period last year.
As of June 1, the number of people employed in the official sector amounted to 6 million people, and compared to the same period of 2021, the number of people employed in legal entities increased by 4.1 percent or 240,600 people.
The number of people employed in the informal sector amounted to 5.6 million people, which decreased by 8.2 percent or 507.5 thousand people compared to last year.
The increase of 2 million people who departed to work in foreign countries compared to the corresponding period of last year by 528,200 people caused a decrease in informal jobs.
As per the findings of the research, the total number of people searching for job was 1.3 million, and the unemployment rate among the economically active population was 8.8 percent. The unemployment rate among 16-30 year olds was 14.5 percent, and the unemployment rate among women was 12.8 percent.
