Starting from December 18, the Rosselkhoznadzor allows the import of tomatoes and peppers into Russia from seven enterprises from the Fergana province of Uzbekistan, the department said in a statement.

The statement noted that in the products of these enterprises in 2020, no objects quarantined for the EAEU member states were detected, as well as the brown wrinkle virus of tomato fruits.

"This decision was taken on the basis of information provided by the Uzbek Plant Quarantine Inspectorate under the Cabinet of Ministers on the findings of the survey of production sites and analysis of the state of greenhouses in the province," the statement added.

The ban on the import of tomatoes and peppers from Fergana province was introduced on November 26. Since December 7, Russia has banned the supply of all plant products from the Fergana province due to the detection of a dangerous pest in the delivered batch of dried apricots - the khapra beetle. Since December 11, the Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed a ban on the supply of tomatoes and peppers from the Kashkadarya and Navoi provinces due to the detection of the brown wrinkle virus.
