The next Uzbek-German intergovernmental consultations on financial and technical cooperation were held today in Tashkent. Germany delegation was led by the head of the department for China, Central Asia, East Asia, Laos and Cambodia of the Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Development of Germany (BMZ) Kathrin Oellers, the Uzbek Committee for Investments said.

The German delegation reportedly included specialists from the German Development Bank KfW and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). 

From the Uzbek side, the meeting was chaired by Laziz Kudratov, First Deputy Chairman of the Investments Committee, and also included the heads of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed the Uzbek-German ties and projects for the further advancing bilateral relations.

"With the financial and technical assistance of the German government, Uzbekistan has implemented a number of important projects in vocational education, health care, agriculture, small business, and transport infrastructure systems. We also express our gratitude to our partners, KfW Bank and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for active involvement and effective cooperation in Uzbekistan," said Kudratov.

The sides reportedly agreed to resume cooperation in the field of sustainable economic development.

As part of the sessions, the official of several ministries and committees discussed potential investment projects with German officials: regional infrastructure projects in Central Asia, promotion of the rule of law, vocational education, trade facilitation, and others.

On the eve of the Intergovernmental Consultation, Kathryn Oellers visited the Republican Scientific Pediatrics Center and attended the inauguration ceremony of the educational center of pediatric radiology, launched jointly with KfW and GIZ.

As part of the cooperation with the Uzbek Ministry of Health, the German government will provide EUR 11.3 million for the healthcare projects.

As reported earlier, the Uzbek President Shvakat Mirziyoyev will visit Germany in a state visit in January 2019
