President Mirziyoyev signed the decree approving the agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Russia on cooperation in the design and construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.

He instructed the government and the heads of the relevant departments to ensure control over the fulfillment of Uzbekistan’s obligations under the agreement.

Earlier on September 7, the agreement was signed by the Prime Ministers Abdulla Aripov and Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.

This agreement provides for the design, construction and commissioning of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan including two power blocks with an installed capacity of 1.2 GW each.
