On 13 January 2018, JICA Uzbekistan Office and Torishima Pump Mfg. Co. Ltd, as well as Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan conducted handover ceremony of “Double Suction Centrifugal Pump, Torishima Model CDM” pump equipment at the division of pump stations, energy and communications under Chirchik-Ahangaran department of irrigation system (Soylik-1).
The equipment was handed over within the framework of the collaboration program on learning and introduction of successful experience of Japan in the field of utilization of advanced pump technologies and management of water resources implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance of Japan.
Mr. Muzaffar Shomayramov, Head of department of pump stations and energy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, Mr. Katsutoshi Fushimi, JICA Chief representative, as well as Mr. Mr. Munenori Nishimura, Deputy General Manager of TGT Sales Department, Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd who made the speech at the handover ceremony, highlighted the importance of the implemented project for further development of management of water resources in Tashkent region. Meanwhile, it was also emphasized that supplied pump equipment by JICA’s support will improve efficiency of energy consumption and ensure guaranteed supply of water to 250 hectares of land Tashkent region.
Also, before delivering of the pump equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, a number of water management specialists from Uzbekistan attended study tour to Japan where they visited plant of the “Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd”, acquainted with its production facilities, energy saving technologies, visited irrigation facilities, etc. Apart from that, in Tashkent in January 15, 2018 experts of the “Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd” made presentation about the collaboration program for the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and conducted seminar on water pump technologies of Japan.
Earlier, on 15 April 2016, minutes of the meeting between JICA, “Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd”, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan and Water Resources Enterprises Association had been signed for an amount of 19.98 million Japanese yens (around US$160,000) in order to implement the above mentioned collaboration program of Japan’s ODA.
