Uzbekistan's money supply hit a record 434.5 trillion soums as of August 1, 2026 — the highest level in the country's economic history, the Central Bank reported.

The money supply — comprising total bank deposits and cash in circulation — grew by nearly 118.8 trillion soums, or 37%, compared with the same period a year earlier.

Money held in the national currency accounts for more than 83% of the total money supply.

The figure first crossed the 400 trillion soum threshold in June of this year, reaching 411.4 trillion soums. A year earlier, in June 2025, the figure stood at 300 trillion soums — meaning the money supply has more than doubled over the past three years.

Cash in circulation also hit a fresh record at the start of August, reaching 76.3 trillion soums — an increase of 16.4 trillion soums from a year earlier.

When the Central Bank first began publishing money supply data, the figure stood at 24.4 trillion soums as of February 1, 2013. By the start of 2024, it had climbed to 242.2 trillion soums — a roughly tenfold increase over 11 years.
