On October 15, at the government meeting in Almalyk, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed the current development of the Tashkent province and future goals.
The Tashkent province ranks first in the country in terms of the number of districts and cities. About 10 thousand people work in state institutions of the province. Reportedly, this is a sufficient force for the development of cities and villages, raising the standard of living of the population, using internal capabilities.
While, opportunities have been identified to attract an additional $13 billion in investments, create 500 thousand jobs and bring 3.5 trillion soums to the budget. According to him, to turn these opportunities into results, separate decisions will be signed for each of the 22 districts and cities.
The share of the cities of Angren, Almalyk, Akhangaran, Pskent and Akhangaran districts in the industry of the province is 50%. They are located nearby and are rich in raw materials. The President pointed out that a completely new system, the “industrial triangle” program, will be implemented to organize production in these cities and districts based on cooperation and clusters. Deputy Prime Minister Zhamshid Khodjayev has been tasked with creating this program within a month.
For example, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant annually produces 600 thousand tons of “cinder” — an additional component to iron ore. Akhangaran District and the city of Akhangaran, as well as three cement plants in Pskent, use this component in production.
It was underscored that cooperation between districts will reduce transportation costs by 20-30%, and the cost of production by 5-10%.
Last year, a kaolin production plant with a capacity of 110 thousand tons began operating in Angren, which stimulates the development of ceramics, porcelain and plumbing production.
In total, 1,100 enterprises operate in the “industrial triangle” zone. Due to new projects, their number is expected to increase to 1,500 within 2-3 years.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to create three large logistics centers worth $50 million in Angren, Almalyk and Akhangaran district for these enterprises next year.
The governors of provinces, districts and cities were instructed to launch 230 projects worth $1.3 billion within the framework of the "industrial triangle" program, which will create 13 thousand high-income jobs, of which at least 5,000 should be occupied by representatives of low-income families.
The head of state indicated that by the end of the year it is possible to increase the volume of foreign investment in the Tashkent province to $2 billion, exports to $1.5 billion, complete 661 projects and create 30 thousand new jobs.
In Tashkent province, it is planned to develop a three-year program to expand localization in mechanical engineering and enhance cooperation with Uzavtosanoat, Navoi and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plants. At the meeting, the President also underscored that Tashkent district should become the main base for housing construction for residents of Tashkent province. He said that entrepreneurs are planning to build an eco-park, a water park, residential buildings and other facilities. Businesses in Tashkent will be offered to move to unfinished facilities in the province.
