Authorities unveiled plans to erect factories for growing and processing pears, walnuts and tomatoes with the support of investors from Italy, the Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmanov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

“We are also planning to grow durum wheat and erect a pasta plant,” the minister added.

In addition, Uzbekistan is developing cooperation with Japan. In particular, the president allowed the experimental cultivation of kiwi on 10 hectares in the Syrdarya province with the prospect of expanding these plantations in other provinces. In 2021, the EastFruit portal reported how Shukhrat Umarov grew kiwi in the Fergana province.

As part of cooperation with Japan, deals were also inked for the export of mung beans. In the future, it is planned to increase the volume of supplies of this product.

According to the Customs Committee, in 2024, Uzbekistan imported 11.7 thousand tons of kiwi, which is almost 1.5 times more than in 2023. The amount of supplies increased by 29.2% - from 3.97 million to 5.1 million dollars.

On March 3, the President of Uzbekistan supported the plans of the Ministry of Agriculture to create a seed production and nursery system based on Chinese experience with investments of 200 million dollars. This year, 200 students will go to study in Italy, and a branch of the University of Tuscia will be opened in Tashkent.
