President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his Saudi Arabia trip met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Bandar Al Hajjar.
The sides noted the steady development of ties between Uzbekistan and the IDB and the ongoing cooperation in implementing joint social and economic projects. The Islamic Development Bank's investments in such fields in Uzbekistan as public health care, education, irrigation and melioration, power, water supply, utility services, development of road infrastructure, support for SMEs is a vivid confirmation of this.
It was underscored that there is a huge untapped potential for further advancing of cooperation, raising it to a new level. In an intent to expand the partnership, the sides decided to draft a concrete program of action for the exchange of delegations of various levels.
The meeting also discussed other issues on furthering mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank following the talks on creation of an international research center named after Imam Bukhari.
