Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, attended the Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy on July 24-26, 2024 in Bucharest.

The topic of the meeting was: "Diplomatic Action in an Unstable World".

Before the official inauguration of the meeting, members of the Romanian diplomatic and consular corps were received by the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, and the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Marcel Ciolacu.

The annual meeting was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Mrs. Luminita Odobescu. The Minister Luminita Odobescu underscored that the diversification of economic and energy cooperation was at the core of Romania's goals in relations with the Central Asian states.

The President of the Senate of Romania, Mr. Nicolae Ciuca, addressed the Romanian diplomatic and consular corps, as well as the guests of the event during the opening of the meeting. According to Ambassador Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, the ties between Romania and Uzbekistan are actively developing in all areas. The meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Uzbekistan on October 23, 2023 gave a powerful impetus to strengthening cooperation. The visits to Romania of delegations of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of Uzbekistan (January 29 - February 2, 2024), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan (April 16, 2024), the Prosecutor General's Office and the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (April 22-26, 2024), as well as the visit to Uzbekistan of the Chairman of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Activities of State Enterprises of Romania (June 4-6, 2024) opened up new opportunities for cooperation. An important moment in the relations in the field of transport was the meeting of the Joint Romanian-Uzbek Commission on Road Transport, which took place on March 27-28, 2024 in Bucharest. In the parliamentary area, it should be noted that the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, R. Alimov visited Romania to attend the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (Bucharest, 29 June – 3 July 2024).
