Uzbekistan considers building an optical fiber cables manufacturing plant, the Minister for Development of IT and Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov announced at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, the plant is expected to be built in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district and to be hosted by Rele and Avtomatika plant, with 55% of parts to be produced locally.
Sherzod Shermatov added that by 2021 UzbekTelecom will require 227 thous. km. of optical fiber cables.
The Minister noted that as a result of this project, Uzbekistan will save $ 150 million of cash.
