During the ‘Scaling Smart: Eco-Efficiency Across Billions of Connected Devices’ panel, Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, shared compelling insights on how telcos can drive sustainability by balancing eco-efficiency, operational strategy, and future value—fully aligned with VEON’s commitment to responsible digital growth.

Aamir Ibrahim highlighted that the real opportunity lies in convergence—where climate resilience, digital access, and financial inclusion reinforce each other. Whether it’s a farmer receiving weather alerts via SMS, a woman accessing crop payments through a mobile wallet, or a household managing solar output through an app, all these services are enabled by one device. This is not just digitization; it’s distributed resilience—scalable only when services are affordable, relevant, and trusted.

He also outlined Jazz’s ServiceCo approach, becoming Pakistan’s first mobile operator to sunset 3G last year to migrate users to faster, energy-efficient, and transformative 4G networks; embracing an asset-light model focused on platforms and partnerships. Jazz’s partnerships with the National Disaster Management Authority to operationalize mobile-enabled disaster alerts, membership in the CORE Alliance for circular economy efforts, and carbon sink afforestation projects further demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

Jazz is Pakistan’s leading digital operator, serving over 100 million customers across telecom, banking, entertainment, and more. Jazz has invested over USD 10.9 billion since its inception to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
