The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Measures to Facilitate Swift Introduction of Artificial Intelligence Technologies Decree.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the establishment of the Scientific Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry for the Information Technologies and Communications Development on the basis of the Scientific and Innovation Center for Information and Communication Technologies at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi and the Scientific and Practical Center for Intellectual and Programming systems at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
The main tasks of the research institute are:
- organization of scientific research aimed at the widespread implementation of the Digital Uzbekistan - 2030 Strategy and the artificial intelligence technologies in the economy, the social sphere and the governance;
- conducting fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence, forming a scientific ecosystem for the development of digital technologies;
- development of innovative products for the automation of management and production processes based on artificial intelligence technologies, as well as their models, algorithms and software;
- establishing cooperation and implementing joint projects with leading foreign innovation and scientific institutions for the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
From March 1, 2021, financing of current activities, maintenance of buildings and structures of the Institute, as well as remuneration of labor of its employees (except for scientific workers) is carried out at the expense of the state budget.
Budget expenditures related to the organization of the institute's activities within the framework of this resolution are financed in 2021 within the budgetary allocations provided for by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications as the administrator of the first-tier budgetary funds, and from 2022 are provided in the prescribed manner in the parameters of state budget expenditures.
