The Jadids Abdullah Avloni (1878-1934), Mahmudhoja Behbudi (1875-1919) and Munavvar qori Abdurashidkhonov (1878-1931) were posthumously awarded the Buyuk Hizmatlari Uchun Order by the decree of the President of Uzbekistan, the presidential press service reported.

The awards to the representatives of the enlightenment movement of the late XIX - early XX centuries were awarded “for their dedicated service to the cause of freedom and prosperous life of our people, the colossal contribution and inspiration to the formation of the national education system,” the document dedicated to the Teachers’ Day said.

Yesterday, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the first time attended the solemn meeting dedicated to the Teachers’ Day, which was held at the International Congress Center in Tashkent. The event was attended by teachers, scientists, members of parliament and government.

“Regardless of successes and results in life, each of us will always gratefully acknowledge your invaluable contribution to these achievements,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev, addressing teachers.

The President's festive greetings contained an excursion into history. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that in the 9th-12th centuries the first Renaissance took place on the territory of Uzbekistan, in the 15th century there was the second Renaissance.

“Like many members of the intelligentsia, I am haunted by the thought that our ancestors, the Jadids, could have accomplished the third Renaissance in the 20th century. The sacred wisdom “There is no and cannot be any other way to salvation, except knowledge,” which they made their credo,” the President noted, adding that the creation of a foundation in Uzbekistan for a new Renaissance era is defined as the main goal.

“The inimitable, unique scientific and spiritual heritage of our great ancestors should become a permanent program of action for us,” the head of state said. - We must hold on to this immortal property, draw strength and inspiration from it. And in accordance with these ideals, it is necessary to develop, first of all, the national education system”.

Abdullah Avloni is a writer, intellectual, teacher, and public figure. Mahmudhoja Behbudi is one of the founders of the Jadid movement in Turkestan, a writer, teacher and scientist. Munavvar Qori Abdurashidkhonov was a mentor-educator, writer, editor and a public figure.

The Jadids were Muslim modernist reformers within the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th century. Jadids maintained that Muslims in the Russian Empire had entered a period of decay that could only be rectified by the acquisition of a new kind of knowledge and modernist, European-modeled cultural reform.
