The number of foreign nationals who visited Uzbekistan in 2018 increased by 2.3 times compared to 2017 - 6.433 million against 2.847 million people. Last year, the number of Uzbekistan citizens who made foreign trips doubled - 13 million 838.6 thousand people against 6 million 823.4 thousand a year earlier, Statistics Committee reported.
Over 6 million people visited Uzbekistan from the CIS countries, 93.5% of total number, from non-CIS countries - 417.1 thousand people (6.5%).
The CIS countries were also the main destination for Uzbekistan nationals - 13 million 308 thousand, or 96.2%. While, 530.6 thousand Uzbeks (3.8%) departed for non-CIS countries.
The largest inflow to Uzbekistan was recorded from Kazakhstan - 2 million 456.9 thousand (38.2%), Tajikistan - 1.7 million (26.4%), Kyrgyzstan - 1.1 million (17.1%), Russia - 460.2 thousand (7.2%).
From non-CIS countries, Turkey - 74.8 thousand (1.2%), China - 37.1 thousand (0.6%), South Korea - 32.7 thousand (0.5%) India - 22.2 thousand (0.3%), Germany - 19.1 thousand (0.3%) and Japan - 17.2 thousand (0.3%).
Uzbekistan nationals mostly visited the CIS countries: Kazakhstan - 7 million 139.8 thousand (51.6%), Kyrgyzstan - 3 million 196.8 thousand (23.1%) and Russia - 1 million 178, 7 thousand (8.5%). To non-CIS countries, Turkey - 184 thousand, South Korea - 79.7 thousand, the United Arab Emirates - 45.2 thousand, China - 35.5 thousand, the USA - 20.6 thousand and Germany - 12 thousand.
The purpose of visit to Uzbekistan was to visit relatives (73.2%). As tourists - 7.1%, on business purposes - 0.9%, for medical treatment - 0.8%, work - 0.6% and studies - 0.2%. Men made up 53.1% of all foreigners, while women - 46.9%.
