On August 1, a new shooting sports complex and gymnasium were officially inaugurated at a military base within the Fergana Garrison of the Ministry of Defense, the ministry’s Department of Information and Mass Communications said in a statement.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, the Fergana province governor, Khayrulla Bozorov, and various community representatives.
Funded by the provincial military-administrative sector, construction on the facility began in September 2025 and wrapped up in July 2026. The state-of-the-art complex features a theoretical training classroom, administrative and instructor rooms, and a modern shooting range equipped with 20 distinct lanes. The venue is designed to accommodate up to 20 athletes and trainees simultaneously.
During the event, guests were presented with practical shooting drills, training sessions utilizing advanced photoelectric simulators, and dynamic exhibition performances. Officials also shared insights into ongoing provincial initiatives and milestones achieved in the development of shooting sports.
"Currently, 184 young people in the Fergana province regularly participate in shooting sports," the ministry stated. "The launch of this new complex will further popularize the sport, support talented youth, and drive the advancement of military-applied sports across the province."
