As of April 1, 2026, Uzbekistan’s permanent population reached 38,382,685 people, the National Statistics Committee said in a report.
Official reports indicate a 1.8% increase compared to the same period last year, signaling a trend of steady and sustained demographic growth across the nation. A breakdown of the figures reveals a balanced gender distribution, with men totaling 19.3 million and women 19.1 million.
The geographical distribution shows 19.6 million residents living in urban areas, while 18.8 million reside in rural regions. These statistics reflect the country’s gradual but consistent shift toward urbanization.
Experts note that this population surge will inevitably drive demand within the economy, labor market, and social infrastructure. Furthermore, this "demographic dividend" underscores the urgent need to expand job creation and modernize the national education and healthcare systems.
The National Statistics Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to providing regular, updated data on the country’s demographic landscape.
