Uzbekistan today sent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The aid was reportedly linked to the Ramadan holiday to support the Afghan people and enhance good-neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries.

The 290 tons total weight humanitarian included flour, rice, wheat, vegetable oil, instant food, pasta, confectionery, and other food products.

The official handover ceremony took place in Hairatan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor of Balkh Province Mawlawi Abu Idris, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Balkh Province, and officials of the Hairatan administration expressed gratitude to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev "for his constant attention, care, practical support, and solidarity provided to the Afghan people."

In the ceremony were also present the Ambassador to Afghanistan, Oybek Usmanov, and the Surkhandarya province governor, Ulugbek Kosimov.
