1,225 traffic accidents were officially registered in Tashkent in 2025, the chief of the Tashkent City Police Department's Traffic Police, Muhammad Adilov said in a presentation at the session of the city council of people's deputies Wednesday.

Reportedly, the number of collissions in 2025 decreased by 4.3%, from 1,280 to 1,225 year-on-year. The number of fatalities decreased by 1.1%, from 91 to 90, while the number of accidents resulting in bodily injuries decreased by 4.5% (from 1,189 to 1,135).

In February of last year, council members gave a number of directives to the Traffic Police. Specifically, the department was ordered to conduct a thorough analysis of traffic and pedestrian flows, accidents involving pedestrians, and accident sites, with an end to develop measures to "significantly reduce fatalities."

According to Muhammad Adilov, traffic police officers identified nearly 1.3 million traffic violations over the year. Of these, 72,800 were serious violations, including 4,900 cases of drunk driving.

5.27 million traffic violations were identified over the course of the year via photo and video recording equipment.

60 elevated crosswalks were installed near schools last year, and 4.4 kilometers of fences were installed in the medians of streets across the city. Fence installation is ongoing on another 12.5 kilometers of streets.

He added that 4,580 new road signs were installed in the city and 4,360 were replaced, with 300 speed limit signs installed in front of schools. 121 traffic lights were reconstructed and 40 new ones were installed.

Last year, 2,188 people were killed and 8,901 injured in 9,226 road accidents in Uzbekistan (a year-over-year decrease of less than 1%). The Traffic Police stated that the annual reduction in fatalities per 100,000 people was more significant – from 6.9 in 2021 to 5.7 in 2025 (-17%).
