The Saudi Fund for Development is mulling investing in two projects in Uzbekistan worth total of $138 million. the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade reported following the talks between the Minister Laziz Kudratov and the Saudi Fund's CEO, Sultan Al-Marshad.
The projects in question include the affordable housing project in Karakalpakstan and reconstruction and overhaul project of damaged bridges on the country's highways. Both projects are in the development stage.
Reportedly, over the years of partnership, the Fund has already financed healthcare, education, water supply and irrigation, housing, and transport infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan. Currently, the joint project portfolio of Uzbekistan and the Saudi Fund for Development includes 11 projects totaling $287.4 million.
The parties reiterated their interest in further deepening their partnership and implementing socially significant initiatives.
During his visit to Uzbekistan, the CEO Sultan Al-Marshad also reviewed the progress of the $20 million project to erect and equip specialized scientific and medical centers with modern medical equipment.
In November 2023, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia signed a package of agreements on projects in the chemical industry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and infrastructure development, worth approximately $12 billion.
As of October 2025, the total portfolio of bilateral projects between the two countries has reached $30 billion. According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, there are 27 Saudi-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan, with 56 investment projects worth a total of $27.2 billion being implemented.
