The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got familiar with the investment projects, which are scheduled to be implemented by 2045, the Tashkent mayor Shavkat Umurzakov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

According to him, 394 projects worth total of $58.5 billion are planned in the next 20 years. He pointed out that each project wiould be implemented taking into account a clear schedule and transparency:

"A detailed five-year program was presented: for 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029. It indicates which projects and where will be implemented," he said.

The mayor Umurzakov underscored that the president had set clear requirements for the development of each project, indicating to sources of financing, investors, volumes, deadlines, jobs created, volume of industrial production and services.

"This facilitates future planning. We did not have [such an approach] before. Now, before the start of the project implementation, it will be calculated how many jobs will be created and in which industries, how many substations need to be built, how many electric, gas, and water supply networks need to be laid, how much sewerage capacity needs to be increased. All calculations have been made by year and for each project,” Shavkat Umurzakov assured.

According to the mayor, the president gave a directive to give priority attention to seismic safety and public utility infrastructure.

“The president gave strict directives: only after the creation of the public utility infrastructure, we should move on to design and implementation. This will increase the responsibility of our builders, representatives of governor and mayor offices and other departments,” he said.

The mayor added that international experience was being used and foreign specialists have been brought in to implement the large-scale program.

At a meeting on May 13, the president emphasized the priority of quality and safety in construction, instructing to develop a scientific approach and introduce modern standards in the industry.

At the presentation on Monday, information was presented on the work completed in this area. According to the directive, the issues of compliance of new multi-storey buildings with safety requirements were re-analyzed. Scientific and technical opinions were received from about ten organizations, including UzGASHKLITI, the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences, the Main Directorate for Emergency Situations, sanitary and epidemiological services and others.

In accordance with the updated requirements, the seismic resistance of new buildings should be at least 9 magnitude. A comprehensive expert opinion will be formed for each project.

With the growth in the number of high-rise buildings and new complexes, there is a need for a stable power supply. In this regard, it is planned to erect a new 160 MW substation "Suvsoz" worth 25 million dollars in the Chilanzar district. This will provide energy for future projects in this district without overloading the existing networks.

Reportedly It is also planned to build a water reservoir with a capacity of 20 thousand cubic meters in this district. This will ensure uninterrupted water supply in the Chilanzar, Shaykhantakhur and Uchtepa districts. About 8,000 kWh of electricity will be saved daily.
