Uzbekistan and Italy are stepping up cooperation in the field of migration and employment, the press service of the Migration Agency said Wednesday.
The Director of the Migration Agency Bekhzod Musayev and Italian Ambassador Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini discussed the implementation of the memorandum signed during the visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Italian authorities voiced interest in manpower from Uzbekistan for engineering, agriculture and tourism jobs in Italy.
“The signed memorandum is a historic document. I am in favor of its implementation as soon as possible. Labor migration is an important area, and Uzbekistan, with its rich experience, can become an example for Central Asian countries,” the Italian Ambassador underscored.
According to the Ambassador, Italy will provide 1,500 job quotas for Uzbeks from 2026. He underscored that currently there were no Uzbeks who have an illegal status in Italy, which is a good starting point for expanding cooperation.
An agreement was previously signed on the employment of 10,000 Uzbeks in Japan over five years. While, 1,500 countrymen will be offered of 1,100 euros of salary in Slovenia.
