New archaeological sites of the Paleolithic and Neolithic eras have been discovered in the northwestern part of Nurata Range in Gallyaral district of Jizzakh province. Field work was performed by specialists of Yakhyo Gulyamov Samarkand Archaeological Institute and the Cultural Heritage Agency, the Agency said.

A settlement of early humans from the Upper Paleolithic era was discovered in the western part of Ugat village. Reportedly, preliminary findings show that people lived in this area permanently or seasonally thousands of years ago.

Two new sites dating back to the Neolithic period were discovered on the northern slopes of Koropchi village ofThey provide important information about the period of humanity's transition to agriculture and cattle breeding, the Agency emphasized.

Traces of the social and cultural life of ancient societies, who also presumably lived here during the Neolithic era, were discovered in Beshbulok area north of Yonboshtut village.

These archaeological finds are an important step in studying the history of the life of primitive people in the territory of Uzbekistan, the Agency noted, with research ongoing.
