The Anti-Trust Committee has published a register of economic entities holding exclusive rights. The register includes 67 companies with exclusive rights in 81 types of activity.
It is reported that holders of exclusive rights granted on the basis of closed documents will be kept in a separate register.
Most of the companies in the open register are state-owned, and a large part of them are in the construction sector. Also, several IT companies have been granted exclusive rights in one area or another.
The register includes several agriculture, geology, pharmaceuticals, tourism, insurance and publishing companies.
In the energy sector, some hydropower sector companies, as well as Uzenergosotish (government entity in charge of centralized purchase and sale of electricity), UzGasTrade (government entity in charge of centralized purchase and sale of natural gas), and the National Dispatch Center appears on the list.
Among the few private companies on the register is CRPT Turon, which holds two exclusive rights: (1) to operate the national information system for marking and tracking products “Original Mark” and (2) to provide marking codes to manufacturers and importers of products subject to mandatory marking.
The Uzbek Scientific Testing and Quality Control Center (UzTest), which has recently been in the public eye due to the Piskent landfill, has a special right to “conduct tests related to state control”.
While, the operator of the mandatory registration system for IMEI codes of mobile devices – Information Technology Center (ITC) has not been included in the register.
Also, companies that claim to have exclusive rights to access and export minerals are not included in the open register.
"If it is found that exclusive rights are granted to business entities by regulatory legal acts whose use, distribution, and provision are limited by law, their register is maintained separately in accordance with the established procedure," the explanatory note at the end of the open register reads.
