Uzbekistan has allowed access to railway station buildings without an identity document. The Ministry of Transport announced this on October 12, citing the Cabinet's Apr. 17, 2023 resolution.

According to the document, without an ID, visitors can only enter the station building. To access platforms, passengers and persons accompanying or meeting patients with limited mobility or the elderly must present an identification document.

Citizens without tickets, as well as those whose information on the ticket does not match the information on their passport, are not allowed onto the platform or into the carriages.

In previous years, access to train stations and airports was gradually tightened. Passengers had to go through several stages of control, and those seeing off and greeting people were not allowed into the buildings of stations and airports.

In April 2021, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree to simplify access to airports, as well as railway and bus stations.

The document plans to combine the main checkpoints of airports and train stations with primary checkpoints at the entrance, allow free entry into the buildings of airports and train stations in compliance with security requirements, as well as organize public catering, services and trade points at airports and train stations and adjacent areas.

In September, a one-stage control point was introduced at the Central (Northern) station of Tashkent - document checks and baggage inspection are now carried out in one place.
