In January-September 2024, the volume of money remittances to Uzbekistan increased by 34.8%, to reach $11.62 billion (in nine months of 2023, it stood at $8.4 billion), the governor of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov announced at a press conference today.
The largest number of money transfers to Uzbekistan was received in July - $1.78 billion. Over 10 months, the amount was $12.5 billion.
According to the governor, transfers from Russia increased by 35% - to $8.75 billion, while its share decreased - from 77% (at the end of the first yearhalf) to 75.3%, followed by South Korea – on $420 million (+76%), Kazakhstan — $625 million, the USA — $415 million, Turkey — $291 million, Great Britain — $93 million (+67%), Poland — $48 million (an increase of almost 2 times). Remittances from the UAE increased by 66% (the volume was not announced).
In 2022, Russia's share in remittances stood at 87%, and in 2023 it decreased to 78%.
At the end of last year, the World Bank noted a gradual decrease in the volume of remittances from Russia to Uzbekistan. This was explained by a decrease in the number of Uzbekы in the Russian Federation, the strengthening of the soum to the ruble, as well as the growth of inflation in Russia.
In January, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to organize the training of about 100 thousand Uzbkes country for employment in foreign countries through organized recruitment.
