The 2023 consumer expenditure minimum in Uzbekistan was set at 568,000 soums per person per month. This is 12.4 percent higher than last year, the Statistics Agency.
For information: Consumer expenditure minimum in 2021 was 440 thousand soums, and from January 2022 it was set at 498 thousand soums.
In world experience, it is common to use the consumer expenditure minimum as a poverty line, and this indicator is used:
- to determine the target group of those in need of goods and other social assistance of the state;
- to use in determining the country's poverty line and taking into account the real consumer characteristics and requirements of the public in target groups;
- to increase the effectiveness and targeting efforts in the strategies and programs for combating poverty, as well as their continuous monitoring;
- as a criterion for determine the minimum pensions and benefits, as well as other types of financial support to poor families.
