In the first quarter of 2026, Uzbekistan’s utility-scale solar and wind power plants generated a combined 2.368 billion kWh of electricity, the Ministry of Energy said.
This marks a significant leap in the country's energy transition, representing a 40% increase—or an additional 678.1 million kWh—compared to the same period last year. Breaking down the figures, solar photovoltaic stations contributed 1.159 billion kWh, while wind farms generated 1.208 billion kWh.
The environmental impact of this surge is substantial: the shift to renewables saved approximately 631 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevented 1.3 million tons of harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere.
For context, during the first three months of 2025, combined output from these sources stood at 1.69 billion kWh (971.8 million from solar and 718.4 million from wind). The Ministry highlighted that the "green" energy produced in just the first quarter of this year is enough to cover the electricity needs of roughly 3.9 million households for three months, or nearly one million households for an entire year.
