The Foreign Ministers of the Central Asia countries and Afghanistan at a meeting, held in Ashgabat on Monday on the initiative of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) and with the support of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), supported the initiative to create the Central Asia - Afghanistan format , the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The parties supported the initiative to create a new consultative Central Asia+Afghanistan (C5 + 1) format which is intended to be an effective platform for discussing the entire range of regional issues, as well as developing joint measures for peace and sustainable development with the support of the United Nations" , the statement added.

In the meeting was also present the UN Secretary-General's special representative, head of the UNRCCA Natalia Gherman.
