The fourth Tashkent International Marathon will kick off on March 27, announced on Tuesday the Deputy PM/Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov at a press briefing.

The race could get the World Athletics Label, which is assigned to sports events by the International World Athletics’ Association.

According to Aziz Abdukhakimov, the World Athletics Label status will help attract runners from all over the world to the marathon.

The marathon includes 3 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km distances, as well as an ekiden competition, which is a relay race for a marathon distance (42 km).

In 2021, the marathon received a certificate from the Association of International Marathons. The document confirms that the running tracks meet the requirements for international marathons.

The 3 km race is for everyone, including children who are 12 years old at the time of the event. The age category of participants in the distance of 10 km is from 16 years. Teams consisting of six people can take part in the ekiden.

Marathon registration will be launched shortly on the website of the Tashkent International Marathon. The participation fee is 110 thousand soums.

Aziz Abdukhakimov instructed to publish a cost estimate for the 1.5 billion soums of the marathon project in the coming days, so that "people can see where the money is spent on."
