French police detained two tennis players - Albina Khabibulina of Uzbekistan and Ksenia Palkina of Kyrgyzstan over alleged match fixing. The arrests were part of a major crackdown on match fixing cases in French tournaments.

Earlier, Khabibulina admitted to having intentionally lost the game at a tournament in Gonnes in March. Palkina is suspected of mediating between her and the betting parties. The probe was promted through the information of UK betting companies who noticed suspicious bets.

Due to the investigation, Khabibulina and Palkina had to withdraw from the ITF tournament in Clermont-Ferrand, where they were scheduled to play in pairs.
