President of the Uzbekistan Olympic Committee Umid Akhmadjonov has been elected Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at the 38th OCA General Assembly in Bangkok.
"I am very glad to have been entrusted the post. This is definitely a huge responsibility and great privilege. I will represent not only Uzbekistan, but also the entire Central Asian region. I will make every effort to become a member of the International Olympic Committee, "he said in a commentary to his election.
Umid Akhmadjonov is also the president of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) and the first vice-president of the Uzbekistan Football Association.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is one of the five continental associations of Olympic committees recognized by the International Olympic Committee. In fact, the OCA is the governing body of the Olympic movement in Asian countries, which currently comprises 45 countries.
