Honored coach of Uzbekistan Zarina Abdullayeva has been elected as the new president of the Gymnastics Federation. Before, she was in charge of the sports center of the Youth Union, the National Olympic Committee reported.

Earlier since 2005 this post was occupied by the younger daughter of the late President Islam Karimov, Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva. In early March, she announced that she was stepping down from the posting.

"Uzbek gymnastics has made some achievements, however there are still many problems," said the new president of the Gymnastics Federation. - The results in gymnastics, acrobatics and trampolining have been unsatisfactory. Together we must build a new system. We need to attract prominent experts and make use of their experience."

First Vice-President Ruslan Mustayev and Secretary General Gözell Filipov left their posts.
