The national football teams of Uzbekistan and Russia are in advanced talks over a friendly match set for later next month.

A source close to the negotiations said the match is scheduled to take place in Nizhny Novgorod on September 25, adding that the parties are very close to reaching a final agreement. The game is expected to be staged at Sovcombank Arena, though organizers have yet to confirm the venue officially.

The proposed fixture would be only the second-ever meeting between the two national teams. Their first encounter, at Pakhtakor Stadium in Tashkent in November 2022, ended goalless.

No official confirmation has yet come from either football federation, and details of the match — including kickoff time and ticketing — remain to be finalized.
