The Government of Japan will provide a grant to Uzbekistan within the framework of the Silk Road Cultural Heritage Preservation Project through Digital Archives. The project’s exchange notes were signed on November 15 in Tashkent by Japanese Ambassador Fujiyama Yoshinori and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev.
Accordin to the press service of the Japanese Embassy, the maximum value of the grant could be 55.9 million yen (over US$ 400 thousand).
The project, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, envisages the provision to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the State Museum of the History of Uzbekistan and the Archaeological Museum of Termez of technical equipment required to protect collections and exhibits, as well as equipment for digital archiving, such as 3D scanner, 360-degree cameras and more.
The project is designed to contribute to the eternal preservation of unique cultural values discovered along the Silk Road, the embassy concluded.
