On October 27, President of the European Council Charles Michel arrived in Uzbekistan. Today, on October 28 in the morning, the honorable guest visited the New Uzbekistan park and laid flowers at the foot of the Independence Monument.

At the talks the parties considered the ways to further expand multifaceted cooperation and exchanged views on the international and regional agenda, and also reached an agreement to continue close joint work to build up practical cooperation in order to promote the implementation of the program of democratic transformations and economic reforms in our country, primarily in the field of innovation, green economy, and digitalization.
In addition, the sides agreed to prepare a Roadmap for implementation of proposals and initiatives put forward by Uzbekistan during the Central Asia - EU summit.
According to the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov, the talks also touched upon the issue of ensuring freedom of speech in Uzbekistan.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev "expressed his readiness to continue very close and open joint work on ensuring freedom of speech," the spokesman said.
“They agreed to assess progress in this area and develop proposals for further support for the media,” he added.
