On October 14, Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), in partnership with the British Council in Uzbekistan and the University of Westminster in London (UoW), hosted the Inspiring Alumni Success Stories event, designed to support the recognition of the outstanding achievements of WIUT/UoW alums at the national and international levels, in particular, within the framework of the British Council Award, Study UK Alumni Awards.

The event was opened by WIUT Rector Bakhrom Mirkasimov, Director of the British Council in Uzbekistan Denise Waddingham and UoW Business Engagement Director Lynsey Cole, who addressed the participants online.

The main focus of the event was on the success stories of four key speakers representing different generations of WIUT/UoW alumni, including Diana Baizakova, Director of the Tashkent International Arbitration Center (TIAC), Eldora Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Center for Development Strategies, Khursana Usmanova, Project Manager for Sustainable Development and Parliamentarianism, as well as Malik Karimov, director of the marketing department of korzinka.uz and co-founder of the Tashkent Runners running community.

In addition, Khurshid Kodirov, the WIUT graduate in Business Management (2016) and winner of the Business and Innovation Award (2021), shared his experience of receiving recognition within the Study UK Alumni Awards and encouraged his fellow graduates to take part in this program.

The event, which brought together more than 50 alums who have made great strides in their fields as entrepreneurs, professionals, and agents of social change, also aims to empower WIUT/UoW alums. Successful graduates can inspire new WIUT alums and the wider UK alum community to further growth and achievement.

The graduates could also develop and strengthen their connections at the event's end by meeting and networking with other WIUT/UoW alums.

In 2015, WIUT created its own alum association with over 1,000 alums, and now this number has exceeded 5,000. Having achieved outstanding achievements in their careers, WIUT graduates are more than ready to share their experiences with each other, as well as with current students and support them in all possible ways.
