On May 23, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received a delegation of the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament which includes the MEPs Josef Weidenholzer (Austria), Klaus Buchner and Joachim Zeller (Germany).
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the program of the visit includes meetings in both chambers of the Oliy Majlis, various ministries and departments, as well as with representatives of civil society.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and the EU in the sphere of interests of the Subcommittee on Human Rights of the European Parliament.
The MEPs requested to be briefed on reforms that are being undertaken in Uzbekistan in the framework of the country’s Development Strategy for 2017-2021.
