Cotton harvest began throughout Uzbekistan from the first days of September. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, for the 2022 season, cotton pickers have been formed in the provinces of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan. There are 21,379 teams in total, with a total of 1,959,702 pickers. On average, one team consists of 90-100 people.
Of these, 605,136 pickers are workers of the cotton-textile clusters and farms, 1,269,676 people are local residents and seasonal workers, and 64,972 are pickers attracted from other provinces.
This year, 1,500 soums will be paid for 1 kg of raw cotton harvested by hand during the first harvest, and 1,800 soums during the second harvest.
In early August of this year, Uzbekistan announced the expected minimum prices for raw cotton in 2022. Taking into account the prices prevailing on the world market and proposals from the relevant ministries and departments, it was announced that the minimum cost of 1 ton of medium-staple cotton raw materials grown in Uzbekistan is 10.025 million soums, or USD 900 with VAT, the minimum price of 1 ton of fine-staple cotton raw materials with VAT 15,120 thousand soums, or USD 1.380.
