The agreement on good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for 2023-2027 will be signed at the SCO summit in Samarkand. This was announced by the President Mirziyoyev’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov at a briefing today on September 12.
In total, according to him, over 30 documents are expected to be signed at the SCO summit.
He also stated that the Samarkand Declaration, which will be adopted following the Summit, will outline joint approaches to ensuring regional stability, security and sustainable economic development, strengthening transport links, as well as deepening cultural dialogue.
Sherzod Asadov added that the summit would feature the signing of a memorandum on Iran's obligations to obtain the status of membership in the SCO.
As part of the summit, it is also planned to sign a memorandum of understanding between the SCO and the League of Arab States, UN’s specialized organizations - ESCAP and UNESCO.
