Uzbekistan received from the Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) a payment for the supplied electricity in 2021, the press service of the Ministry of Energy said.
Payments are now being made for 2022 deliveries.
Reportedly, 2,151.3 million kWh were supplied to Afghanistan last year. This year, the volume of supplied electricity to Afghanistan is set at 2.21 billion kWh, of which 770.2 million kWh have already been delivered.
“Payments for the supplied electricity this year are being made by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat on a systematic basis,” the Ministry of Energy stressed. Since April 14, Afghanistan has been connected to the energy system of Tajikistan for the summer season.
In May, the Afghan TV channel TOLO News, citing the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the country, reported that the caretaker government of Afghanistan owed Uzbekistan and Tajikistan over $100 million for electricity. Then the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan also stated that DABS fully repaid the debt for electricity for the last year.
