Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, the former president, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
According to the press service of the President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his 65th birthday, wishing him "good health, prosperity and success, peace and prosperity to the fraternal people of Turkmenistan."
He reportedly underscored the great contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the development of modern Turkmenistan and the increase in the authority of the state in the international arena, the strengthening of the Uzbek-Turkmen ties of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership.
The parties also discussed the ways to expand multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the context of preparations for the upcoming visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan.
Attention was paid to the promotion of joint cooperation projects in the field of trade and industry, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, as well as the intensification of interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchange, the presidential press service noted.
The parties also exchanged views on topical aspects of regional cooperation, including on issues of promoting lasting peace and the socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
