For the first time, Uzbek truck drivers have successfully completed the transit through Afghanistan to Pakistan. A tripartite working group meeting on transport matters was held in Termez on March 26-27 with the participation of representatives of major transport and logistics companies of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the International Association of Road Carriers and transport and customs authorities.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the meeting outlined a specific action plan to address the problems encountered in the process of international road transport in Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Reportedly, as a result of the tripartite efforts, today this transport corridor is fully operational, cargo is delivered to the destination in a short time and safely.

Uzbek truck drivers traveled 2,760 kilometers from Tashkent-Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar-Karachi, delivered cargo (frozen meat) from the port of Karachi to Tashkent in a week.

For information, Uzbekistan has been taking measures to increase the role of southern routes in foreign trade for several years. For the Republic, this is a faster and cheaper access to the sea.
