The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev set the goal of establishing the running of modern high-speed electric trains from Tashkent to Khodjikent, Bekabad and Angren in the Tashkent province, the presidential press service said.

At the presentation, the president underscored that more than 1 million passengers entered the capital from the Tashkent province in a day.

Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov said that the current fleet of suburban electric trains is outdated and cannot cope with the flow of passengers. The slides of his presentation were shown by Uzbekistan 24.

The minister noted the low speed of electric trains, the lack of connectivity between railway stations and public transport, the low level of service, the lack of flexibility in tariffs and the possibility of buying tickets online.

On the slide you can see a photo of Sapsan, a high-speed electric train from Siemens Velaro family. Whether it is planned to purchase trains of this particular model is yet not known.
