The monument to the blacksmith Shaakhmed Shamakhmudov's family lived a new birth when it was inaugurated in the Park of Amity (former Babur Park), after being brought back on May 1 from the city outskirts to where it was removed in 2008.
The monument was sculpted in 1982 and installed at the Peoples' Amity Square. Shaakhmed Shamakhmudov and his wife Bahri during the WWII in 1941-45 adopted 15 children of different nationalities, who lost their parents and were evacuated to Tashkent.
