The throughput capacity of the border customs posts between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will be increased. Meeting was held between the customs authorities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on May 26 via conference call.

According to the State Customs Committee, the meeting was attended by heads of sectoral and territorial departments of the customs authorities of the two countries, as well as border customs posts.

The parties discussed the current problems of increasing the throughput of customs posts and future goals, the reconstruction and modernization of customs posts, the creation of facilities for drivers and citizens crossing the Uzbek-Kazakh border.

Today, there are 10 customs posts and 2 customs checkpoints on the Uzbek-Kazakh border, with an average daily 2,700 vehicle- and 7,200 passenger-a day throughput.
