The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the intergovernmental treaty with Kazakhstan on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, the Ministry of Justice reported.
The treaty was signed on December 6 in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. The Uzbekcosmos agency was assigned as the responsible authority for the implementation of the treaty from the Uzbek side.
The treaty regulates the cooperation of the parties in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, the development and implementation of space technologies in the interests of the progress of the economy, science, security and social development of the two states.
Areas of cooperation are:
- training and retraining of personnel in various areas of the space industry;
- space science and space exploration, including astrophysical research and the study of planets;
- remote sensing of the Earth;
- development of space vehicles, launch vehicles and other space-related equipment;
- creation and development of ground-based space infrastructure;
- launch of space vehicles and scientific equipment;
- satellite navigation systems and technologies;
- satellite communication systems, broadcasting and technologies;
- protection of the space environment, including control, prevention and reduction of man-caused impact on it;
- standardization in the space industry;
- using the results of joint activities to create new space equipment and technologies, etc.
Under the treaty, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan can develop and implement joint programs, projects and activities in space, exchange information, knowledge and data, use ground facilities and systems for launching and controlling spacecraft, etc.
