President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with Acting Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on April 5, the press service of the head of state reported.

The leaders exchanged congratulations on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing the peoples of the two countries peace, prosperity and progress.

The progress in the implementation of the joint road map adopted following the high-level state visit to Pakistan on March 3-4 was reviewed. The parties stressed the importance of the timely implementation of projects and programs of multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the field of trade, industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism, culture and other priority areas.

At the end of the conversation, the Uzbek leader wished the head of government and the people of Pakistan a successful parliamentary election in the country.

The day before, Pakistani President Arif Alvi, on the recommendation of Imran Khan, dissolved the National Assembly (lower house of parliament). Imran Khan himself moved to the status of acting head of government until the appointment of an interim Prime Minister. New parliamentary elections will be held in 90 days.
