An illegal mining farm have been uncovered in Bayaut district of Syrdarya province, the State Security Service said in a statement. Inspection conducted by the SSS officers in the province together with other bodies uncovered an illegal mining farm in the building of a local company.

A foreign company registered in Tashkent rented a building from a local enterprise for two years and set up a farm using 1,491 sets of mining equipment and 9,280 video cards.

Since August 2020, the farm has reportedly mined $7.7 million worth of cryptocurrency.

“Directors of the facility and the foreign company colluded and provided false information into an agreement with the provincial power grid company for connection to the power grid,” the statement added. The documents provided for the creation of a rabbit farm.

According to the State Security Service, the mining farm, having acquired a large amount of electricity at a low price, caused major damage to the interests of the state. A criminal case has been launched.

In August 2021, law enforcement officers discovered an underground crypto farm in Khavast district of Syrdarya. Its cost was estimated at 9.2 billion soums, and the amount of illegally used electricity was more than 265 million soums.
