Ceremony of launching a thermal power plant in the Tashkent province, and the start of a project to build a similar plant in the Syrdarya province as part of the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Uzbekistan. The contractor of the projects are the Turkish company Cengiz Enerji.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, touching on the significance of the projects, underscored that these plants have become a clear embodiment of the Uzbek-Turkish ties and emphasized that in the last year alone, together with Turkish companies, 5 large energy projects. In particular, the total capacity of these plants, including today's projects, will reach 1.4 thousand megawatts.
$12 billion worth of 20 projects will be launched on the basis of public-private partnership until 2026through the modernization of the Uzbekistan’s energy sector. These projects will provide an additional 71 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year will be saved.
The head of our state thanked the engineers and builders who took part in the construction of the power plant. Then, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, by pressing a symbolic button, launched the start of the thermal power plant in Kibray district and the thermal power plant project in Khavast district.
The capacity of the thermal power plant built in Kibrai district of Tashkent province is 240 megawatts. The power plant will generate 2 billion kilowatt-hours of energy per year.
The capacity of the new thermal power plant in Khavast district of Syrdarya province will be 220 megawatts, it will generate 1.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
